The life of Darby Jampijinpa Ross spanned a time of great change in Warlpiri culture. Darby was a strong law man, an artist and a storyteller. His work is currently on show at the Araluen Arts Centre at Alice Springs.  The Nyurru-warnu website brings you some of Darby's stories to give you a flavour of Darby's life and experiences. The Coniston Massacre of 1928 was a widespread reprisal by police against Warlpiri people following the killing of a non-Aboriginal man by a Warlpiri man. The killing of the non-Aboriginal man was in response to misuse of the wife of the Warlpiri man.  The true numbers of Aboriginal people killed will never be known but stories of the massacre continue to be told across a wide area of Central Australia.
